This Friday we will receive our very first ever Fresh Fork bag of fresh and local products. To be totally honest, we are a little nervous about it. Nervous about a bag of food? Weird, right? But we’ve made a big investment, and we want to make the most out of it. Obviously, we love food. And we tend to gravitate toward restaurants that use fresh, local products because frankly the food tastes better. But we don’t always incorporate that into our own kitchen. We try to shop at the farmers markets during the summer months, but sometimes it gets overwhelming. There is so much to chose from, some things maybe not entirely familiar as far as cooking with them.
So now it is time for us to not just talk the talk, but attempt to walk the walk. Every Friday for the next 22 weeks, we will receive a bag of products from Fresh Fork, and we will do our best to make the most of it. We will share our Fresh Fork experience here on the blog. Some of the ups and probably some of the downs too, since in the cooking department we are definitely a work in progress. This week we will be receiving a whole pasture raised chicken, red russian kale, collard greens, radishes, strawberries, green leaf lettuce, pea tendrils, garlic scapes and kohlrabi. We’ve eaten all of these items before, but haven’t cooked with many of them ourselves. So this will be a big challenge for us. Wish us luck!
