One of our favorite restaurants in the area is Russo’s in Peninsula. It is that place we fall back on when we just want to sit down and know that we’ll have a great meal. The Cajun and Italian influences make for the kind of bold flavors that we love. We also like the casual, loud atmosphere with the open kitchen in the middle of the dining room.
He said…the best thing on the menu is the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and pan gravy. Everything about this dish is great, but it is the tangy gravy that really takes it over the top!
She said…the best thing on the menu is anything with the crawfish sauce. I’ve been enjoying this sauce since it was on the menu at Liberty Brewing Company in Akron, and I don’t ever get tired of it. It is one of the best things I’ve ever tasted! On this visit, I enjoyed it over fried walleye, but I love it with pasta too.
We also tried a couple of appetizers.
We love the Creole influences in chef David Russo’s food. We’ll be traveling to New Orleans soon, so we can’t wait to check out the food scene there! In the meantime, if we need a fix, you’ll find us at Russo’s.
