Northstar Cafe

We recently sat down at one of our favorite places for lunch in Columbus, Northstar Cafe.  We discovered this place by accident a few years ago in the Short North area, but were happy to find another location on this visit at Easton Town Center.

Chicken and Avocado Sandwich with slow roasted Bell & Evans chicken, avocado, provolone, roasted red peppers, arugula and cayenne aioli

She said…this is one of the most delicious sandwiches ever!  I’m not usually one to order chicken, but this chicken is so juicy and flavorful it practically melts in your mouth.  The bun is perfectly toasted to add a crunchy texture to the sandwich, and all the ingredients are top notch.  This is the thing about Northstar (and a point to be made about food in general)…it doesn’t have to be super fancy if the ingredients are fresh and of high quality.  Northstar understands this perfectly, and they are committed to locally grown, organic ingredients.  The wild rice that they serve as a side with many of their dishes is so unique and delicious.  It has lots of veggies and even some dried fruit in it.  Even after being stuffed full of sandwich, I still couldn’t stop eating it.

Pulled Pork Sandwich with slaw

He said…I can’t resist a good pulled pork sandwich, so when I saw this as a special, it was a no-brainer on what I was going to order.  This sandwich certainly did not disappoint. The pork was very tender and the sauce was tangy.  The creaminess of the coleslaw was a nice contrast to the spiciness of the pork.  Even though it’s a small touch, the bun was grilled perfectly, which added a nice crunch to the sandwich.

Bottom line…we adore you Northstar, when are you coming to Northeast Ohio?
